Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to heal itself and improve function through the use of very thin needles applied to specific acupuncture points. The technique balances energy flow throughout the body while stimulating the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, brain and spinal cord. These chemicals can then trigger the release of hormones which influence the body’s internal regulating system. This can cause a decrease in pain and stress allowing the body to reset over time.
Acupressure
This branch of Traditional Asian Medicine stimulates the acupuncture points using manually applied pressure. This pressure can be via a finger, blunt tool or electrical stimulus from a handheld device. This method of therapy is gentle and non-invasive. In most cases, acupressure has a less powerful effect than acupuncture, which means that more treatments are necessary to elicit the same results. Acupressure is particularly suitable for children and those who suffer from needle phobia.
Myofascial Decompression / Cupping
Cupping is a modality used in traditional Asian medicine that uses glass or plastic cups to create local negative suction to areas of the body. The vacuum created pulls the skin and blood vessels into the cup. This process draws out toxins by suctioning oxygen depleted blood to the surface while replacing it with oxygen rich blood. This promotes healing of the muscles and fascia, while releasing pain and tension.
Microneedling Therapy
Microneedling Therapy also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), and Percutaneous (through the skin) Collagen Induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure. Microneedling results in the production of new collagen and elastin, improvement in skin tone and texture, firmness as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.
Nano Needling
Nano needling only affects the epidermis, treating within the upper .15 mm of the skin. The benefits of this serum infusion treatment include pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow with no downtime. This treatment can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy that incorporates burning of an herb. This herb, dried mugwort, comes in several forms and is used to decrease pain, relieve digestive issues, boost immunity and help with gynecological conditions. Moxa, as the tool is commonly called, is set ablaze and held very near the surface of the skin, increasing circulation and dispelling certain pathogens.
Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture uses the same acupressure points as acupuncture, with a twist. Electricity is applied to acupuncture needles in varying frequencies to stimulate the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters and anti-inflammatory substances. Electroacupuncture is a convenient stimulation technique that can be used for a variety of treatments. In cases of stubborn neurological disorders and chronic pain, electroacupuncture may be the best option for point stimulation and effective treatments.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha, also sometimes called scraping, is another modality used in traditional Asian medicine that uses smooth sided hand tools. These tools are then “scraped” along energetic pathways to draw out toxins and promote healing. Gua Sha can reduce fevers, reduce inflammatory symptoms and release muscle tightness.
Tuina Massage
Tuina is a therapeutic form of massage that has been around for at least 2000 years. It literally translates into “push and pinch” and utilizes various hand techniques to enhance the healing process of the body. Many of the techniques used in tuina resemble that of western massage such as kneading, rolling, pressing and gliding. Tuina is used to relax and energize the patient depending on the condition(s) being treated.
Herbal Medicine
Traditional Asian medicine relies heavily on the utilization of herbal formulas. Herbal medicine used in traditional Asian medicine can be added to treatments, both for the treatment of illness and in the optimization of health and prevention of disease. Asian herbal formulas can include plant, animal, and mineral substances. Herbal formulas can come in several forms, including capsules, powders, and raw herbs that are to be steeped like a tea. While they may not taste the best, they are very effective.
